Every Wednesday morning after breakfast, a team of medical professionals volunteer their services. These include: a sick call, medical triage and referral service.
Most of our homeless family do not have medical insurance. As a result, they use the hospital ER for non-emergency care. However, our ministry seeks to treat them before that happens.
This lifesaving ministry is led by Dr. Al Hartness, a retired pediatrician. He is joined by Dr. Kerren Elder, a practicing physician, Charlotte Baker, a retired Nurse, & Craig Stewart, a retired pharmacist. Medical Residents from SRAHEC and nursing students from FTCC help out, too.
Guest physicians from all walks of medicine and from around the world have volunteered at Inasmuch.
Jasmine Black is a nurse from the VA. She leads our medical services and referrals to Veterans. These veterans represent 18% of our homeless population. We love serving those who served.
These services are provided free of charge.
