Every Wednesday morning after breakfast, a team of medical professionals volunteer to provide a sick call, triage and referral service. Members of our homeless family, most of whom do not have medical insurance, often use the Hospital ER for non-emergency care. This lifesaving ministry, headed up by Dr. Al Hartness, a retired pediatrician, is also staffed by Dr. Kerren Elder, a practicing physician, Charlotte Baker, a retired Nurse, & Craig Stewart, a retired pharmacist. The medical team is enhanced by Medical Residents from SRAHEC and nursing students from FTCC.
Guest physicians from all walks of medicine and from countries around the world have volunteered their medical services.
Nurse Jasmine Black, from the Veterans Administration, heads up our medical services and referrals to Veterans who represent 18% of our homeless population at Inasmuch.
These services are provided free of charge to the homeless Americans we serve.
