In July 2009 we began serving the homeless and very low income people of Fayetteville, a hot nutritious breakfast. Our faithful kitchen staff is comprised of servers, volunteer cooks, dishwashers and coffee team. Kitchen duties are also shared among the residents from our Frink Street Transformation housing project and The Lodge.
These meals are served by one of our teams of 14 volunteers from local churches, Christian clubs and businesses.
Each weekday morning, a volunteer team arrives at 7:00 to set up the tables and serve breakfast. Our homeless family arrives between 7:30 & 8:20 for breakfast, showers, laundry and other humanitarian or educational services. Before breakfast begins there is live music and devotions which include family members reading scripture and singing or sharing a prayer from their heart. The fellowship and sense of community is evident in the way people greet each other by name and chat on our front porch before and after the meal.
Our current monthly average is 77 people each morning.
So far, we’ve served 15,385 delicious home cooked meals during our current fiscal year, July 2016-June 2017!
